Security is an ever evolving concern. NTE presents two talks around the challenges of maintaining a secure technical environment. Nigel from BAE Systems discusses the issues faced and solutions found whilst working on a high-volume eCommerce platform. Tom Gray from Infinity Works focuses on back-end security, and will talk about the things he has seen and the tools he has put in place to create a secure environment for his clients.
TALK 1
“Secure Engineering in The Digital World”
NIGEL ABRAHAM Agile Delivery Manager, BAE Systems
Agile approaches; modern JavaScript Frameworks (React/Angular); and tooling like Docker, Kubernetes and the cloud in general, make it easier and quicker than ever to build, deploy, and manage applications. Equally Continuous Improvement/Deployment has now become broadly accepted wisdom. What considerations are needed in order to ensure that our rapidly evolving applications remain secure? This talk investigates the behaviours that we’ve seen, and the approaches and technology that can be used to help limit risk.
TALK 2
“People near you didn't believe what happened when we ran this cloud security tool”
TOM GRAY Principal Consultant, Infinity Works
Modern cloud security is a brand new security landscape that opens up old wounds with new words and new paradigms. This talk aims to cover the basics of some security, with some recent experience in securing applications in the cloud. In terms of technology, Tom will be covering a tool called "ScoutSuite" created by NCC Group, and walking the attendees through some best practice on AWS, and how ScoutSuite can help you do that
